Moving TipsLet’s face it, moving is stressful. The process of finding a new home, researching and hiring a Lake Norman moving company, organizing, packing, cleaning, moving, and unpacking are all major sources of stress. When moving, there are countless things to remember. You need to remember things like the moving dates, to pack, and to change your address. On top of all of this, suddenly realizing that you forgot something can prove to be an immediate source of stress.

At Moving Simplified, our mission is to remove stress from your moving experience. We feel strongly that the moving process has enough stressful aspects that a good Lake Norman moving company should ensure that the actual move is not a source of stress.

“Moving is considered the third most stressful time in a person’s life,” says Eric Snider of Lake Norman’s Moving Simplified. “When developing the Moving Simplified concept, our major focus was removing the stress from our customers during moving time.”

In order to help relieve some of the stress surrounding moving, Moving Simplified has put together a list of a few things people commonly forget during their move. While this list isn’t exhaustive, we hope that is helps and provides a little piece of mind for anyone moving.

Gather All Records & Store Them Safely

Lake Norman Moving CompanyIt is important to make sure all of your family’s records are safe. It’s not uncommon for people to keep their family’s records in various places that only they can remember. Since you are moving, this system will no longer work.

Gather all of the paper records and put them together. Records to gather may include:

  • Medical Records
  • Dental Records
  • School Records
  • Tax Records
  • Financial Statements
  • Birth Certificates & Social Security Cards
  • Important Family Photos or Items

Change Bank Accounts

If you are moving out of town or out of state, it is important to remember to set up a new bank account near your new home before you move. This is something that is often forgotten. A common situation that arises is after you’ve moved and try to write a check somewhere. Some merchants refuse to accept out-of-state checks and some banks put holds on them. This can be a big problem when you try to pay a bill or buy groceries.

Other Things Often Forgotten

  • Dry Cleaning
  • Garage Door Openers
  • Extra Keys
  • Changing Your Address for All Accounts
